It’s been a while since the last truly mind-blowing Nintendo Direct showcase, but if you’re tapped into the rumor mill, we basically got an unofficial one this week. While information coming from any source but Nintendo itself has to be treated with a grain of salt, if there’s any truth at all to the latest leaks, there’s quite a lot on the way.
Most of the latest Nintendo leaks come courtesy of a YouTube video from leaker NateTheHate, who’s been responsible for some correct Nintendo leaks in the past. Their track record isn’t 100%, though, so don’t get your heart set on anything just yet. A few rumors also come from other sources, including one mysterious commenter who seems to be surprisingly in the know.
The Duskbloods Release Window
Most of the new Nintendo rumors concern first-party games, but there’s also an update on FromSoftware’s upcoming Switch 2 exclusive. While The Duskbloods has only been assigned a vague 2026 release window to date, the leak suggests that it will be a “late 2026 release.”
NateTheHate acknowledges that a summer release would make a lot of sense, but says October currently seems more likely. As a title originally announced with the reveal of the Switch 2, some FromSoft fans likely expected to have more news on the game by now. It’s always possible, though, that performance struggles with the Switch 2 port of Elden Ring also affected the development cycle of The Duskbloods.
Switch Sports On Switch 2
One of the vaguest pieces of information out of NateTheHate’s leaks is the fact that something is happening with Switch Sports this summer. As of right now, it’s not clear whether the new Switch Sports development will be a sequel or simply a Switch 2 edition of the original game.
Switch Sports failed to make the same splash as the iconic Wii Sports, so a proper sequel could allow Nintendo to inject it with some much-needed personality. Regardless, it’s only one of several rumors about what to expect this summer.
Switch 2 Summer Release Line-Up
According to NateTheHate, this summer will be a big one for announced Switch and Switch 2 games that haven’t yet been given release dates. If the rumors are correct, Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, and Rhythm Heaven Groove should all arrive in a summer window.
This information should be possible to verify before some of the other new rumors, as Nintendo will have to reveal the release dates sooner or later. If all of these titles are indeed almost here, that should bode well for the legitimacy of some of the more nebulous leaks.
Devil May Cry 5 On Switch 2
Earlier this week, a rating for a game called Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition appeared from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee. NateTheHate has also backed up the confirmation of a Devil May Cry 5 port for the Switch 2, making this one look like more or less a done deal.
It’s been seven years now since the release of Devil May Cry 5, leaving DMC players with much less to occupy their time than fans of other Capcom franchises like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. A Switch 2 port of DMC5 isn’t quite as exciting as an entirely new game would be, but it’s a lot better than nothing.
Nintendo Direct Window
Taking a step back from all the new game rumors, NateTheHate also offered some advice about when to expect the next Nintendo Direct. While smaller showcases like Indie or Partner Directs are possible in the near future, the next overarching Nintendo Direct allegedly won’t arrive until June.
If that’s true, we might not be able to get much official news about any of the current rumors until then. Nintendo Direct dates tend to be NateTheHate’s most consistently accurate information, so the odds are in favor of this particular leak’s accuracy.
New Wario Land Game
NateTheHate’s supply of rumors didn’t include any mention of a new Wario Land game, but another source suggests that one is on the way. Days before the release of NateTheHate’s video, a YouTube comment from a user named @malo932 named several titles that ended up matching NateTheHate’s reveals, but they also tossed the word “wario” into the mix. A later comment from hours before NateTheHate’s video offers a little more detail, mentioning “a WarioLand title” as a 2026 or 2027 release.
It’s hard to put too much stock into a source this totally anonymous, but their knowledge of rumors that NateTheHate hadn’t yet brought to the public ahead of time lends them some mysterious form of credibility. Hopefully, we’ll get some more details on this particular rumor sooner rather than later.
Super Metroid Remake
Like the Wario Land rumor, the mention of a Super Metroid remake comes from the mysterious commenter rather than NateTheHate. In this case, it’s a rumor that’s popped up before, so there’s a little more substance behind it than the Wario claim.
The new take on Super Metroid will allegedly come from MercurySteam, which co-developed Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid Dread with Nintendo EPD. It’s not surprising that Nintendo might eventually work its way around to Super Metroid‘s return, as Metroid: Zero Mission and Samus Returns tackled the first and second games in the series.
3D Mario Release Window
3D Mario games are invariably system sellers, but the Switch 2 opted to launch with Mario Kart rather than a new platforming installment. Shortly after, Donkey Kong Bananza roughly filled the gap, translating plenty of Super Mario Odyssey‘s innovations to work with the gorilla’s more destructive style.
Fans have still been wondering when the next 3D Mario will arrive, and the leak backs up the idea of a 2027 window. That’s still some time to wait, but it could be a lot worse, and anyone who opts to get a Switch 2 in the 2026 holiday season should hopefully be in for a treat next year.
New Star Fox Game
It feels like fans are always begging for new Star Fox games, but the franchise has frequently struggled to land a position alongside Nintendo’s top titles. While Star Fox 3D for the Nintendo 64 is undeniably iconic (and its 3DS remake is also excellent), games like Star Fox Zero haven’t made the same splash.
By the sound of it, though, Nintendo is willing to try yet again with an upcoming Star Fox game for the Switch 2. This would follow on the heels of Star Fox’s appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy movie, which was incidentally also revealed this week.
Ocarina Of Time Remake
Perhaps the biggest news to come out of the latest leaks is the rumor of an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2, which will apparently be a more robust overhaul than the previous 3DS remake of the game. A 2026 launch could coincide with the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda franchise, as well as build up momentum for the 2027 release of the film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.
The details of just how Nintendo plans to overhaul Ocarina of Time haven’t been made clear, but it will be a difficult project to navigate no matter how you slice it. Ocarina of Time is revered as one of the greatest games of all time, and attempting to update its mechanics or world could very easily lose what made the original so special. Either way, this rumored project will likely be the number one thing on the radar for many Nintendo fans this year.
