A full Mandalorian & Grogu trailer has finally been released, giving us our best look at what to expect from the brand-new Star Wars adventure starring Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin and his recently adopted son. As the first Star Wars movie to be released in theaters since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, it’s exciting to see that this trailer is full of revealing connections.
Set after the events of The Mandalorian season 3, Din Djarin and Grogu are now working for the New Republic to track down Imperial Remnant warlords. However, it appears that they’ll soon be entangled with major Hutt gangsters and more new threats in their upcoming movie. Here are all the biggest reveals we found in The Mandalorian & Grogu’s new trailer.
New Republic X-Wings At Sunset
The trailer opens with a beautiful shot of some X-Wings (and a Y-wing) coming in for a landing at sunset. Not only is it a great visual, but it also evokes a similar shot of First Order TIE fighters from 2015’s The Force Awakens.
A New Four-Armed Ardennian (Voiced By Martin Scorsese)
Wanting information about a Hutt gangster, Din Djarin encounters a less-than-helpful four-armed Ardennian who shuts down his food cart. While the last live-action Ardennian we saw was voiced by director Jon Favreau in 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, this Ardennian is voiced by none other than legendary film director Martin Scorsese (so we KNOW this movie is going to be “absolute cinema”).
The Mandalorian & Grogu’s Major Villains
We also get first looks at what appear to be the major villains of The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first being the Hutt Twins, who first debuted in The Book of Boba Fett when Jabba’s cousins tried and failed to claim his palace and holdings from Fett himself. We also see a table full of Imperial Remnant officers, the most prominent being played by actor Jonny Coyne, who first debuted alongside more of the Imperial Shadow Council in The Mandalorian season 3.
Signorney Weaver’s Deck of Cards
The new trailer reveals that Sigourney Weaver’s New Republic officer Col. Ward has a deck of cards representing various high-priority Imperial targets she needs Djarin’s help tracking down. She also confirms that hunting them down is not about revenge, but about preventing another galactic war.
Adelphi Base
We get a great shot of the New Republic’s Adelphi Base, a primary location seen previously in The Mandalorian. We can also see a U-Wing on the landing pad, the classic Rebellion gunship most prominently featured in Rogue One and Andor.
Modified Clone Wars-Era Battle Droids
It appears as though the Hutt Twins’ primary enforcers are reclaimed and modified Clone Wars-era Separatist droids. Multiple can be featured on what appears to be Nal Hutta. Recent Toy Fair reveals provided even better looks at one such droid in particular, known only as “Mercenary Guard Droid.”
Embo & Marrok
Remarkably, the iconic bounty hunter Embo and his loyal pet Marrok make their live-action debut, shown closing in on Djarin and Grogu’s homestead at night in the rain. A highly skilled Kyuzo, Embo first appeared in the animated Clone Wars series, where he was voiced by Dave Filoni (who’s recently been named one of the new heads of Lucasfilm).
Din Djarin Unmasked
Appearing to have been brought before the Twins as their prisoner, we see Din Djarin unmasked while facing them, followed by a second shot of Pedro Pascal’s unmasked face while facing a creature that looks to be a cross between a massive white snake and a crocodile.
New Look At Jeremy Allen White’s Rotta The Hutt
The new Mandalorian & Grogu trailer also gives us an even better look at Jeremy Allen White’s Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba. Shown wielding two axes in a gladiatorial arena, the trailer confirms Rotta and Djarin will fight each other directly.
New Look at Star Wars Rebels’ Zeb Orellios
The trailer gives us our best look yet at Garazeb “Zeb” Orellios in the new Star Wars movie, a soldier of the New Republic who at some point will be joining Din Djarin and Grogu on their quest. Zeb is best known for his role among the Spectres in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. Following The Mandalorian & Grogu, it’s been confirmed that Zeb will join many of his fellow Spectres in live-action later this year in Ahsoka season 2 (Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, Chopper).
