For Netflix fans craving the next high-octane installment of arguably its best action-thriller K-drama of 2023, April 3 is the date to watch out for. Based on the hit Naver Webtoon, Bloodhounds turned heads with its tight fight choreography spread across eight nailbiting episodes, offset by the delightful friendship at its core. But now, it’s getting even better.
While diehard fans may have caught the announcement posted by Netflix K-Content’s YouTube channel, with its trailer quickly amassing 1 million views, it may surprise some that it’s still likely to climb further upon release. Once one of 2023’s most popular K-dramas around, with its primary stars, Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi, set to reprise their roles, Bloodhounds is back.
Netflix’s Most Exciting Action-Thriller K-Drama Return Is a Month Away
Bloodhounds’ initial story has long since been resolved, with Kim Geon-woo (Woo) taking down Smile Capital’s loan shark ring and its head, Kim Myeong-gil with it, but now the story moves into the future. Season 1 was a loose adaptation of the original manhwa, but now, Geon-woo and his friend, Hong Woo-jin (Lee) face a potentially global-scale nemesis.
The newly-released trailer shown above introduces audiences to a more ambitious story, no longer directly haunted by the pandemic’s financial woes, with the production values of Bloodhounds following suit. The April 3, 2026 release date is given at the end of the trailer, but not before showing Geon-woo and Woo-jin in the boxing ring once more, but for all the wrong reasons.

From dark thrillers to long-awaited sequels and emotional romances, here are all the manhwa and webtoons that will be adapted into K-dramas in 2026.
Bloodhounds Season 2 Trades Monstrous Loan Sharks for a Global Crime Syndicate
One of the many exciting elements to Bloodhounds’ return to Netflix, aside from what appear to be far greater effects budgets, is its primary villain this time around. Jung Ji-hoon, best known as Rain (Ninja Assassin), will join the cast in his first ever turn as villain, flipping the script on his 2009 breakout turn as a neo-noir action star.
Rain, who plays Baek Jeong in Bloodhounds season 2, is very vocal in the trailer about getting what he wants, which apparently includes getting Geon-woo and Woo-jin into his organization’s illegal boxing ring. Not above using unseemly methods, extortion, and violence much like Smile Capital did, the star duo may not be the ones truly in danger.
Bloodhounds season 2 may feature a worldwide danger, but its stars will still feel right at home.
Bloodhounds has already established a reputation for its villains’ brutality, including violent hulking beasts like Kang In-beom, and the monstrous extent Myeong-gil went to cover up his crimes, including feeding his victims through a wood chipper. One can only imagine what Baek Jeong, and his worldwide connections may give him as resources to make Geon-woo and Woo-jin’s lives hell.
As indicated by the trailer, Baek Jeong is willing to do anything to get his way. Past villains were perfectly willing to murder their enemies and burn their homes down, and Rain’s turn looks to be particularly explosive, with possible car bombings and warehouse brawls between matches in the ring, with the stars’ loved ones likely caught in the balance.
Bloodhounds hasn’t fundamentally changed too much, despite veering off the beaten Webtoon path. Geon-woo and Woo-jin are still best friends, bickering about how they grill their meat, and when the cards are down, we see glimpses of Geon-woo with his signature black gloves. Bloodhounds season 2 may feature a worldwide danger, but its stars will still feel right at home.
