Blade Runner is one of the most iconic sci-fi franchises in history, known for its atmospheric, rain-soaked cityscapes filled with towering neon signs and perpetual night, as well as Joi, the interactive AI holographic program that represents the “perfect” fantasy girl. Now, the legendary franchise is set to return in 2026 with a new spinoff series.
On May 6, 2026, Titan Comics, in partnership with Alcon Entertainment, will release Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win #1, the latest chapter in the Blade Runner saga. This four-part mini-series invites fans back into the cyberpunk future of Tokyo and serves as a continuation of 2024’s Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: Die in Peace.
To Lose Is To Win once again follows Mead and her replicant companion, Stix, two former soldiers turned private detectives, as they take on new investigations after leaving their old lives behind in the neon-soaked streets of futuristic Tokyo.
Blade Runner Claims New Action-Packed Comic Series This Spring
Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win Covers by Junggeun Yoon, Dani and Brad Simpson, Piotr Kowalski, and Mariano Taibo
Kianna Shore and artist Mariano Taibo took the creative lead on Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: Die in Peace (2024). While Taibo will be returning for Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus: To Lose Is To Win, the writing duties will shift to Nancy A. Collins. Fans will undoubtedly miss Shore, yet there will undoubtedly be excitement to see what Collins brings to the franchise.
While details remain somewhat scarce for the new series, it is confirmed that the plot of To Lose Is To Win builds directly off the events of Die in Peace while also revisiting figures from Mead and Stix’s past. Titan Comics and Alcon Entertainment’s official press release for the series describes the story as:
“Discovering that Mead and Stix are still alive, their old commanding officer, Uldren, sets out to kill them before they can reveal his treachery. The data he stole from Tyrell has enabled the Cheshire Corporation to create bootleg Replicants with the same kill signature as Stix. Meanwhile, still dealing with the fallout from the Yakuza civil war, Stix and Mead find themselves fighting for survival against Rumika, A Blade Runner sent by Tyrell to destroy Cheshire and all those connected with it.”
The 2024 installment of Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus earned an average score of 3.5 out of 5 on League of Comics Geeks, securing a “Mostly Positive” rating from fans. It will be interesting to see whether Collins can build on what Shore established and elevate it to the next level. Either way, the synopsis makes it clear this will be another high-heat, fast-paced action entry in the Blade Runner franchise.
