If you somehow got through the last 10 years without watching Stranger Things, congratulations, you outlasted the show. Now go ahead and binge the entire series and see what you’ve missed by avoiding Netflix’s number 1 sci-fi TV show. After five seasons, Stranger Things finally came to a close on New Year’s Eve, 2025.
One of the defining shows of the 21st century, and a series that cemented Netflix as one of the (if not the) top streaming options. Stranger Things has probably done more to popularize sci-fi than any other modern production, and though most people waited 10 years, you can now get it done in less than two days.
You Need About 45 Hours To Watch All Of Stranger Things
If you want to binge all of Stranger Things, you just need 45 hours. Mind you, that’s 45 hours straight. Even if you took off work, canceled all your plans, and hooked yourself up to an IV drip, that would be nigh impossible to complete straight. Please don’t take that as a challenge.
There are 42 episodes in the series, with each episode taking between 40–60 minutes, and a handful taking upwards of two hours. If you want to be realistic about a binge, watch two episodes a night, and 6–8 on the weekends. At that rate, it should take you between 17 and 19 days to binge.
Binging Stranger Things From Start To Finish Is A Different Experience
Binging Stranger Things will offer a much different experience than you would have received following the series as it was released. In 2016, when the show began, most of the child actors were between the ages of 11 and 14, with the teen characters being played by actors in their early 20s.
By the time season 5 came around, the “child” actors were in their early to mid 20s, and the characters who are supposed to be in their 20s are played by 30-year-olds. This was jarring enough, even over 10 years. If you watch the series over three weeks, you might have trouble remembering who’s who.
Will Stranger Things Age Well?
Still, despite the age jumps of the actors, Stranger Things is definitely still worth the binge, but make sure you do it sooner rather than later. As wonderful a series as Stranger Things is, it might not age as gracefully as many other shows. Certainly a consequence of its effects-heavy storytelling.
More than that, Stranger Things is extremely tied to the time in which it came out. The series may be one big homage to the 1980s, but it’s specifically a nod to how the 2010s and 2020s see the 1980s. There is cross-generational commentary in the show that may end up getting lost over the years.
