At least 56 municipal police were arrested for alleged links with organized crime, after three days of intense operations in the municipalities of Cintalapa and Jiquipilas, in Chiapas, security sources reported.
The action is part of a deployment headed by federal and state forces in search of the Capo Juan Manuel Valdovinos Mendoza, aka “The Lord of Horses”, who is linked to a criminal group and ordered criminal acts, including, clashes with federal and state forces in the border area with Guatemala.
In addition to the police, the arrest of four civilians is reported unofficially, as well as a ranch, four homes, nine vehicles, ten horses and a jaguar, according to sources close to the operation.
The identities of civilians were not revealed for legal reasons and the authorities still do not officially confirm the charges that will be charged.
In the operational deployment, federal forces intervened, the State Attorney General (FGE) of Chiapas and the Secretariat of Security of the People.

Authorities still do not confirm if there was a detention of Valdovinos Mendoza during operation
To reinforce land work, the authorities used a Black Hawk helicopter that flown dirt roads in various ejidos, while on land advanced tactical units and armored tanks. Similarly, they established strategic seals in the entrances and exits of both municipalities.
So far, it was not confirmed if the operation achieved the arrest of Valdovinos Mendoza.
The operation shocked the inhabitants of the region, who for three days observed the unusual movement of armed forces, withholdings, flying and searches in usually quiet areas.
This operation occurs in a context of growing concern for the infiltration of organized crime in municipal corporations in Chiapas, particularly in strategic areas for cross -border traffic.
At the end of January, the FGE reported that state and federal security forces deployed an operation in the state of Chiapas that ended with the arrest of 65 police, two public officials and 11 more people, linked to an extortion network in the state of Chiapas, on the southern border of Mexico.
