Professor and paleontologist Martin Becker has sued the William Paterson University (New Jersey, EU), where he taught, for an alleged negligence of the institution that would have caused that 200 marine fossils of 380 million years have ended in a nashville landfill (Tennessee, EU).
In June of last year, Becker packaged the fossils in 19 independent boxes of up to 27 kilograms to send them to a colleague in Florida who was going to help him with the investigation, according to the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of the County of Passaic, in New Jersey and broadcast in the last hours.
Each package was transported to the university mailbox that day and delivered to the supervisor of the same, but after UPS picked them up, their track was lost and finally they would have finished in a landfill.

The paleontologist seeks the whereabouts of fossils
The paleontologist contacted UPS directly on September 30 and informed him that his collection of fossils of marine invertebrates of the devonic was intercepted and blocked because the William Paterson University had not paid its previous bills and the corporate account had been canceled.
“Our client learned after the packages were thrown to an unidentified landfill somewhere in Nashville or its surroundings,” the demand wields.
Before, Becker had tracked for weeks the whereabouts of his fossils with constants calls to UPS and the supervisor of the university packages, who, according to the professor’s story, replied again and again with evasive and pointing out that they would probably have been retained in the anti -arud section.
The plaintiff now claims compensation not specified to the university for fossils to which he says he has dedicated hundreds of hours in his investigation and that supposed 80% of his collection, as well as that the medical expenses caused by the emotional anguish caused by the incident were paid.
