The academic Leonardo Ariel Escobar Barrios reported that he was deprived of his liberty for three days, a period in which he was beaten by members of the National Guard, attacks that resulted in the fracture of three ribs, in addition to blows and injuries, which were later accredited by medical certificates, according to a note from Quadratín México.

The live location of the member of the Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla uncovered a chain of serious irregularities in his detention and custody by federal and municipal authorities in Nuevo León.

What began as a return trip after the December holidays ended in an alleged arbitrary detention.

Despite the seriousness of the events, he denounced that there is no record of his detention in the National Detention Registry Law, an omission considered serious by the Universidad Iberoamericana Puebla, since this mechanism is key to preventing arbitrary detention and forced disappearance.

Another of the most questioned points is the lack of information in its transfer. As stated in a press conference, Leonardo was detained around 5:35 p.m., but was presented before a civic judge until 8:00 p.m., despite the fact that the journey between the airport and the corresponding facilities does not exceed 15 kilometers. During that period of more than three hours there is no official explanation about his whereabouts.
