Activists in favor of the disappeared in Monterrey, in Nuevo León, denounced on Tuesday deficiencies in the search processes by the state authorities in charge of this work.

Leticia Hidalgo, founder and spokeswoman for the Forces forces united by our disappeared in Nuevo León, told Efe that the State Prosecutor’s Office delays the delivery of certificates of disappeared and found lifeless persons, in addition to delaying the analysis of remains found by the seekers themselves.

The activist accused the attorney general, Javier Flores Saldívar, who recently declared that there is not enough personnel for these tasks. However, he said that is an unbelievable excuse that comes from years ago.

“They do not want to raise the index of missing persons and victims of violence and insecurity that they have never been able to attend for more than 15 years, being responsible for us to have guaranteed life and security in a rule of law,” said the activist.

He presented three cases that have accompanied from the group: that of a young victim of disappearance who was found lifeless in June 2024 and who, after almost a year of the finding, the Forensic Medical Service has not issued its death certificate because it alleges that it has not been possible to determine its cause of death.

A second case is that of a young woman whose remains were found in a clandestine grave of organized crime, in the municipality of Hidalgo, and then a year of her identification has not been delivered to her relatives for a worthy restitution.

He also revealed that at the beginning of April 2025, the group made the discovery of various human remains which have not been analyzed to date.

The activist said that these actions are violations of human rights of relatives victims of disappearance and also constitute a crime.

“It is comparable to torture what they do and that is already by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) in a jurisprudence, what we pass as relatives of missing persons,” he said.

He added that also denying and hiding information is also a forced disappearance.

“These actions also configure the crime of forced disappearance, that is, they disappear again. They already have bodies, they already have remains, they already have identifications and do not want to give the information, hide the information, because in the three cases that is what we are denouncing,” he said.

Given the situation that is being lived in Nuevo León, Hidalgo commented that they have given view to international instances.
