KIO, a company specialized in operating cutting-edge technology to manage and monitor services in the public cloud, warned that the sophistication of cyberattacks has evolved very rapidly, since four years ago planning an attack took two months and now it only takes 62 minutes. but remedying the damage requires an average of 50 days for the technology industry; In this situation, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) helps to detect rare patterns of behavior and deal with any unusual acts in a timely manner.

“We are a technology and cybersecurity services company, and as cybersecurity services, for us AI is essential to prepare our clients for an increasing sophistication of attacks,” said the Director of Digital Experience at KIO, José Da Silva.

During his participation in the panel “Technology for the new world”, he recalled that in the past, to implement cybersecurity tools, something very important had to happen or someone had to suffer an attack for policies to be implemented and systems protected, while that today AI-based strategies allow us to identify and neutralize threats before they occur, replacing traditional reactive models.

Within the framework of the “Forbe Economy and Business Forum 2024. Intelligent and Sustainable Future”, the KIO manager indicated that what AI does today is open the panorama or enable mechanisms to detect behavioral patterns that can end in a cyber attack, thereby strengthening cybersecurity strategies.

“The fastest attack on record took two minutes, but when we look at how long it takes the industry on average to remediate an attack, it’s about 50 days. “There is a huge gap between the speed with which they can attack and the speed at which the damage is remedied,” he said.

This becomes important because in 2022 there were around 3,000 million attacks per year, but in 2023 30,000 million attacks were recorded, “we are talking about a factor of 10 times, so it is essential to accompany clients in cybersecurity strategies and really make use of AI to be able to prepare for this growing execution of exponential attacks,” Da Silva mentioned.

In this context, he warned that AI is here to stay and is not going to stop, but there are two important challenges for a viable application: staff awareness and investment in intelligent protection tools.

“The weakest link is always the human factor due to the sophistication of the attacks. Before they sent a malicious email that has a controlled effect and in this way they generated many awareness and prevention campaigns. Today almost all business leaders are public figures, they can use their voice. There must be previous campaigns to make visible what situations may occur,” said the Director of Digital Experience at KIO.

For these reasons, data access and security are fundamental pillars in the company’s internal strategy to guarantee ethical and safe use of AI without losing agility.

“At KIO we develop solutions such as Prophecy, an artificial intelligence platform that prevents anomalies in real time. This approach not only protects the operational continuity of our clients, but is also designed to resolve secure access to data while identifying irregularities,” Da Silva explained.

Faced with a scenario in which new technologies force security responses to be accelerated, leading companies such as KIO prioritize their investments in generating proactive and intelligent cybersecurity solutions, aligned with current threats.
