Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City (AICM) canceled again during the night from Monday to Tuesday its operations after the heavy rains recorded in the early morning.
In a publication of the airport account through the social network X, they pointed out that “landing and take -off operations were closed from 02.13 local time (08.13 GMT) and it is estimated to remain like this until 6.00 (12.00 GMT), approximately”, although at 10.00 (16.00 GMT) its reactivation was not reported yet.
In the message they explained that “eviction work of rainwater that causes flooding in the operational area, in order to retrieve the operation capacity with security” was being carried out.
It is the second break that the capital’s airport has in three days due to intense rainfall. So far, 16 flights were diverted, 3 were canceled and 120 have delays, with a total of 19,500 passengers affected.
The first, which was during the afternoon of Sunday and Monday night, 104 flights and 1,892 passengers were affected by the rains and floods in the facilities.

The Aeromexico airline explained in a statement that “it has experienced affectations in a considerable number of its scheduled operations.”
They indicated that to “reduce the impact and protect the affected passengers” they work in action plans, although they affirmed that, “the registered rainfall will continue to impact operations and could generate additional delays and cancellations.”
“We make a respectful and urgent call to the competent federal authorities and the Government of Mexico City, to take actions that guarantee the proper functioning of the AICM infrastructure, and take the preventive measures that are required,” they demanded in the statement.
