A fog bank this Wednesday forced the Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City (AICM) to temporarily suspend landings, a measure adopted for the safety of air operations.

Through its social networks, the country’s main airport indicated that the impact is limited to arrivals, while flight departures continue to take place normally.

“This morning due to the presence of a fog bank at the airport, for the safety of operations, landings are suspended. Takeoffs are carried out normally,” the AICM indicated in its message.

The airport added that it will keep users informed as the weather situation evolves and conditions for air operations normalize.

The presence of fog is a recurring phenomenon in the Mexican capital, especially during the first hours of the day and in certain seasons of the year, and usually causes flight delays or diversions, particularly in one of the busiest airports in Latin America.

Airport authorities recommended passengers with scheduled flights to remain attentive to official information from the AICM and its airlines, as well as to anticipate possible delays in the arrival of aircraft while operations are fully restored.
