The demand for air transport increased by 10% in January with respect to the same month of 2024, thanks to factors such as the growth of the sector in Asia-Pacific, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said Thursday.

The airline coalition indicated in a statement that international demand increased to a greater extent (12.4% year -on -year) than that of domestic flights (6.1%), with an average rate of occupation of the aircraft of 82% in both cases, a figure never seen in the first month of the year.

This occupation, however, is a symptom of persistent problems in facilitating the offer in the air sector, the Iata Director, Willie Walsh, stressed in the statement.

In large domestic markets, the greatest year -on -year increases in the first month of the year were registered in India (17.1%), Japan (12%) and China (10%).
