PRI senator Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas denied that the resignation of his partner Cynthia López Castro was part of an agreement between his party and Morena to benefit the approval of the reform on “constitutional supremacy.”

In a press conference, the party leader also commented that the PRI debated and “fought” against the ruling that was discussed last Thursday, and that the senator’s resignation occurred for reasons beyond the PRI and those of the legislator.

“What agreement can there be? There is no agreement, we were against, we debated, we voted against. So is the PRI’s position clear? The PRI’s position is clear and apart from what they pointed out, their vote does not define, it did not define anything in that vote,” he said.

“That is a lie, I cannot allow it and if someone says it we will clarify it because that is not true, it is a slander, there is no agreement, the PRI’s position has been clear, consistent, we voted against and so So we voted against and his vote had nothing to do with the approval, it did not influence anything, he simply did not vote,” the senator responded to the accusations that indicate an “under the table” deal between the PRI and Morena.

The former PRI member López Castro said this morning at a press conference that she was leaving the party due to conflicts with “Alito”, since she mentioned that there is no longer any voice or vote in the party.

“Today I want to inform you that, with great feeling, with the highest respect for the PRI militancy and the leader Alejandro Moreno, I tell you that I am resigning from the PRI. I thank you very much. “I will continue working for my city, for my country, with the same values and the same principles,” said the senator.

The legislator, who had been a member of the PRI for 21 years, told the media that she had differences with the leadership of Alejandro Moreno, however, she said that she “respected him a lot.”

“I wish you much success and I appreciate the opportunities you gave me and the time we were able to walk together. But today we have differences and there is no turning back,” concluded Cynthia López.

The senator was absent on Thursday during the plenary session of the Senate, where the reform on constitutional supremacy was voted and approved. The absence of Cynthia López subtracted one vote from the opposition.
