Mexico City (EFE) .- The Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) announced on Sunday the appointment of Admiral Juan José Padilla Olmos as the new general director of Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

The decision is part of the merger process of the Entities Airport Group of Mexico City (GACM) and Airport Services of Mexico City (SACM), according to a statement.

The objective of this change seeks to “eliminate duplicities in the corporate structure of these airport entities to optimize operations and resources, improve the profitability of companies, the security and connectivity of the country.”

The appointment was made by Admiral Raymundo Pedro Morales Ángeles, secretary of the Navy, and was formalized on March 16.

AICM will expand its management to other airports

With the merger, the AICM will assume the role of concessionaire and operator of the Benito Juárez International Airport of Mexico City, in addition to taking care of the management of international airports of Ciudad del Carmen, Ciudad Obregón, Guaymas, Loreto, Matamoros and Colima.

It will also have shareholding in the international airports of Toluca and Cuernavaca, and will administer in collaboration the San Felipe International Airport and the National of Lázaro Cárdenas.
