An original ET model from the Steven Spielberg movie comes to auction

The Sotheby’s house will auction an original model of the extraterrestrial ET of the famous movie of the 80s of Steven Spielberg, from the personal collection of the artist of special effects and makeup, Carlo Rambaldi.

The model that will be put on sale is one of the only three ET dolls used during the 1982 classic and will have an estimated price of between 600,000 and 900,000 dollars.

It will be part of an exhibition on horror, science fiction and fantasy cinema of the twentieth century, which will be auctioned between March 21 and will end on April 3.

This model, just over 90 cm high, is the one that stars in the “closet scene”, in which ET disguises between the stuffed animals of a very young Drew Barrymore.

Together with the ET model, which Rambaldi designed with Spielberg, additional articles from the collection of the special effects artist, including unpublished sketches of the extraterrestrial, as well as a robotic study of one of his eyes, will be included.
