Los Angeles, California.– Julio César Chávez Jr., son of the legendary Mexican boxing champion, was once again news this Monday after not appearing to a scheduled hearing in the Superior Court of Los Angeles, where he had to update the judge about his progress in a judicial diversion program related to his arrest in 2024 for illegal possession of arms, reveals the newspaper US Today.

A judicial diversion is an alternative to a formal criminal process, where it seeks to avoid trial and condemnation through participation in specific programs or treatments.

Last week he was arrested by immigration authorities in the United States and his legal team has failed to confirm whether he remains in a detention center of the National Security Department in Texas or if he was already deported to Mexico.

The judicial diversion program to which Julio César Chávez Jr. was admitted last year allowed him to avoid a formal trial and a possible conviction, as long as he met certain conditions supervised by the Court.

However, its arrest by the Customs Immigration and Control Service (ICE) has complicated that process.
