Another Strait Lane Spec Mansion Hits the Market in Dallas

Spring is in the air, and spec mansions are budding.

After several spec mansions sprang to the top of Texas’ residential market last month, another cropped up this week: a 2.2-acre estate at 10010 Strait Lane in Dallas, built by family-owned luxe developer Hadley & Bess, asking $25 million. It’s the most expensive newly built home in Dallas. Aside from rural ranch properties, only six homes on the public market in Texas are asking a higher price, according to Zillow.

Bordering Bachman Creek in Old Preston Hollow, the seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom home spans 16,600 square feet over three stories with elevator service. The listing price amounts to about $1,500 per square foot. The interior includes a wine vault, a golf simulator room and a three-tier theater, and the exterior includes a loggia, pool and outdoor kitchen. The property also includes a 10-car garage.

In the listing, Allie Beth Allman & Associates agent Susie Thompson calls Strait Lane “Dallas’ most iconic street.” Sometimes called Billionaire’s Row, it’s home to the estates of Ross Perot, Tony Neugebauer and manufacturing mogul Steven Ross.

Hadley & Bess is owned by Abby and Stephen Simpton, the CEO and COO, respectively, of the company. The University Park residents have built or remodeled about a dozen homes and six commercial spaces since founding Hadley & Bess in 2011, according to the firm’s website.

The home at 10010 Strait Lane is their most expensive project yet, Abby Simpton said.

“Once the 2.2 acres went on the market for $3 million, we grabbed it up, because we knew that was going to be a really great deal for us,” Simpton said of the lot, which her company purchased in 2021.

Hadley & Bess initially listed the home for $18.5 million when it was under construction in 2023.

The most expensive home to list in February in Texas was another spec mansion, a Layne Kelly Homes project in the River Oaks neighborhood of Houston. That home is listed for $25.5 million, and it’s still under construction.

Several other spec mansions hit the market in Dallas last month as well, including a project down the street at 10920 Strait Lane in Dallas by Grupa Menta that’s asking $12 million.
