Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, husband of the presenter Inés Gómez Mont and accused in Mexico for alleged money laundering and organized crime, was detained in an immigration processing center in Miami, Florida, according to information from the Quadratín México agency.
According to information published by the newspaper Reforma, the records of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) show that Álvarez Puga is in custody at the Krome North facilities, a center for people with irregular immigration status and not a criminal prison.
Álvarez Puga and Gómez Mont have been wanted by the Mexican authorities since September 2021, when an arrest warrant was issued against them for the alleged diversion of resources from federal contracts related to penitentiary centers.

The aforementioned media points out that Álvarez Puga’s detention could be due to his lack of valid immigration documents, such as a work or tourist visa, which opens the possibility of deportation. At the same time, the Government of Mexico could request his extradition to face the pending charges.
Both are accused of participating in a money laundering network that would have triangulated nearly two thousand 950 million pesos through six billing companies linked to contracts of the federal prison system.
