In a simultaneous operation organized in 48 municipalities of the State of Mexico, authorities intervened this Friday more than 160 wells and water intakes related to the extraction, overexploitation, distribution, hoarding and illegal sale of the liquid, according to the State Prosecutor’s Office.
Under the name ‘Operation Flow’, the mission is to “interrupt the activities of the illicit water trade chain” and intervene in more than 190 water intakes throughout the process.
In addition to the intervention of the wells, “more than 250 water pipes and transports, including trailer types, were seized due to their probable relationship with illicit activities of hoarding, distribution and sale of drinking water.”
Federal and state agencies began the maneuver in different locations after an investigation based on files from the state prosecutor’s office and citizen complaints.

They pointed out that these actions will not affect the operation of the state’s official infrastructure and wells.
Elements of the state prosecutor’s office, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, Defense, Navy, National Guard, Secretariat of Security of the State of Mexico, as well as municipal police corporations, with support from the National Water Commission (Conagua) and the state water commission, and municipal water organizations, participated in the operation.
Among the municipalities mentioned are Valle del Bravo, Chalco, Lerma, Naucalpan, Teotihuacán, Texcoco, Toluca, Tultepec or San Martín de las Pirámides.
