MEXICO CITY.- At least six dead left a fire on Monday in a private addiction rehabilitation center in San Miguel Topilejo, in Tlalpan, in addition to several injured, authorities reported.

Mayor Gabriela Osorio pointed out on her social networks that “at least six deaths and many other injured,” according to preliminary civil protection reports have been counted.

The official explained that she will report “the extension of the damage” at the end of an inspection route on the site located in the Vistahermosa neighborhood, in coordination with authorities of Mexico City.

The Secretariat of Integral Risk Management and Civil Protection of the capital government reported that six more people were valued by smoke inhalation poisoning.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Citizen Safety and Protection (SSC) of the capital detailed in an information card that agents of the agency attended a report “of a fire conato” on Vista Hermosa street, in the Ocotla Chico neighborhood, in The town of San Miguel Topilejo, located in Tlalpan.

However, “upon arrival, emergency services requested because they observed several unconscious people,” the SSC continued.

The agency indicated that the paramedics who arrived at the place gave attention to 11 people, of which five were diagnosed in the site “without vital signs by smoke inhalation.”

“Therefore, the ministerial authorities for expert services and the integration of investigations were already informed,” the authority added.

He also indicated that the person in charge of the center and four more people will appear before the Public Ministry to render their declaration on the facts.
