A top Douglas Elliman agent and his team left for Compass.

Michael Reisor, an Austin agent who formerly managed the Eklund-Gomes Texas team, joined Compass Real Estate, the brokerage said Wednesday. Reisor, who also works in New York, heads the 14-member Reisor Team, which exceeded $100 million in sales volume in 2025, according to a press release.

The Compass brand and its off-market listing option were both persuasive draws, Reisor said.

“Compass’s private exclusive network is very important in New York. In Austin, around half of what we do is off-market, so I think there’s a lot of demand for that in both places. But in Austin, there’s more resources for that,” Reisor said.

High property taxes, non-disclosure laws and the occasional camera-shy celebrity have engendered a robust off-market scene in Austin. More than one enterprise supports real estate deals outside the Multiple Listing Service, including the members-only Austin Luxury Network and the local startup Clubhouse.

New York doesn’t have such an infrastructure for private transactions, making it a more open frontier for Compass to claim, he said.

Compass’ private listing feature has generated nationwide controversy, including a lawsuit filed by Zillow. The Clear Cooperation Policy of the National Association of Realtors requires agents to list homes on Multiple Listing Services. Zillow is lending its muscle to enforce the NAR rule, having banned listings that agents don’t submit to an MLS within a day of marketing them.

The Reisor Team is just the latest Texas group to join Compass in recent weeks. Last month, Houston team The Property Collective Group left Keller Williams for Compass. And Oak Cliff Real Estate rejoined Compass in December after a brief period with Dallas-based Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.

Meanwhile, Houston luxury agent Dana Johnson left Compass for Douglas Elliman earlier this year.

Reisor joined Douglas Elliman in 2021 after having worked at Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty since 2018, according to his LinkedIn.
