Among the modalities detected are false messages on social networks that promise a “welfare credit” without requirements or with applications such as deposits for concepts such as commissions or insurance that are never reimbursed.

One more technique is the links that are distributed by chats or social networks that lead to web pages that supplant official dependencies to obtain banking or personal data through deceptive forms.

“Once criminals get the data, they begin to harass the person already their contacts, demanding payments under threats. In addition to being a financial fraud, it is also an extortion mechanism and psychological pressure. No government dependence requests payments to grant a loan. If they ask for money in advance, it is an alert signal”Add the ESET researcher.

The risks associated with these practices are: the loss of money, extortion, identity theft, among others.
