Barbara Fox, a veteran of New York City residential real estate and founder of the 36-year-old boutique brokerage of the same name, is taking her team in-house.
Fox and her team at Fox Residential Group are joining Brown Harris Stevens as the Fox Residential Team. The 13 agents joining Fox will be based at the flagship office of BHS at 445 Park Avenue.
Fox in a statement said the move was part of a “natural evolution” for the firm she founded in 1989.
Fox Residential ranked 22nd in The Real Deal’s most recent rankings of Manhattan’s top brokerages, with over $35 million over 19 sell-side deals. Brown Harris Stevens claimed the No. 4 spot, with over $2 billion in transactions over 1,093 deals.
Speaking to The Real Deal in 2019, Fox said the firm’s size was an advantage in a difficult market, and she had resisted previous acquisition offers and expansion to other offices.
”I’ve been approached by everybody that’s acquiring,” said Fox. “If I had a financial issue, I would probably have done something. But I don’t, knock on wood.”
Fox was a founding member of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Residential Division in 1989, has served on the REBNY Residential Board of Directors since its formation.
“Barbara Fox is a true icon in New York City real estate,” said Bess Freedman, Chief Executive Officer of BHS. “She built her firm on values that perfectly align with ours: integrity, professionalism, and a deep respect for the client relationship. It’s an ideal fit.”
