It’s common knowledge that Wally West is the most powerful Flash in the DC Universe, with incredible feats ranging from stopping time to beating Death in a race to the end of the universe. However, it looks like West’s reign as the King of Speed has finally come to an end.
Mark Waid, Christopher Cantwell, and Vasco Georgiev’s The Flash #29 is a tie-in to DC’s ongoing crisis event, DC K.O., where heroes fight to save the universe from Darkseid. Rather than participating in the deathmatch tournament, Wally is busy doing damage control as a well-meaning but misguided Bart causes havoc in the timeline by trying to stop Darkseid’s takeover before it even begins.
These shenanigans lead to Bart having a near-death experience, where, in a state of limbo, he learns from a “dead” Jay Garrick that he isn’t just tapped into the Speed Force, but is the Speed Force.
Bart Allen Officially Becomes DC’s Most Powerful Flash After Speed Force Reveal

During their conversation, Jay reveals that during his DC K.O. fight with Guy Gardner, he became one with the Speed Force and could feel Bart. Bart is understandably confused by this, given that he recently lost his powers and therefore doesn’t understand how Jay could feel him if he wasn’t connected to the Speed Force.
Jay then explains, “The Speed Force is a living mystery. But somehow… it’s in you. And I don’t mean it chose you, like Barry, or Wally, or me. I mean… it is you. You. You can reignite it. Purely from within yourself.” This revelation is an absolute bombshell, and Bart soon proves Jay right when Jay urges him to reignite it before both the Speed Force and Bart die.
In an overpowered moment that not even Wally can compete with, Bart, through sheer force of will alone, chooses his “true form” and reignites the Speed Force, saving both himself and it from extinguishing and ultimately restoring his lost powers. In doing so, he takes on a golden, glowing form, becoming the Speed Force incarnate.
While Wally has a multitude of unparalleled speedster feats under his belt, he can’t claim to be the Speed Force itself. This has officially elevated Bart to a level that not even the previous Fastest Man Alive can hope to touch. And given that Bart is only just stepping into this newfound power and still has much to learn when it comes to his potential, readers can likely expect some nearly incomprehensible and equally impressive Flash feats from him.
