The governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, said that the cancellation of her US visa is an administrative decision of the Trump government, so there is no fault or crime, according to a note from the website Quadratín Mexico

In a message to the media in which she did not accept questions, the Morenista president said that there is nothing to investigate against her and accused that the issue has been used as a political weapon by her adversaries.

“That the United States Department of State has canceled my visa does not mean that I have committed something bad,” said Ávila in a message to media accompanied by members of his cabinet.

“There is no crime, there is no fault. The cause of this measure has not been communicated and, whatever the reason, I am calm,” he added.

The governor confirmed that it was included in a consular extent, as shared on May 10 on social networks, and said surprised by the decision.

However, he insisted that his history is clean and that there are no reasons that can be used against him: “Do not look for him. There is nothing to hide, there is nothing to find out to damage my image.”

Ávila sent a direct message to those who have suggested that the revocation of their visa could be related to alleged links to organized crime

Although he did not give details about the causes of the cancellation, the governor stressed that she has maintained a close and working relationship with US authorities, and confided that this cooperation continues for the good of the border communities.

He also thanked the support of elected president Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as legislators, governors of Morena and citizens who have expressed support in social networks and public spaces.

Marina del Pilar closed her message ensuring that the lack of visa will not stop her work at the head of the Government of Baja California, and that she will continue working as millions of Mexicans who, she said, also live without that document.

Yesterday, without giving many details, the president of Baja California reported that the United States government withdrew its visa, as well as her husband Carlos Torres, who serves as coordinator of regeneration of public spaces in her administration.

The withdrawal of the visa to Marina del Pilar is the first for a acting governor by the Trump administration.
