The American president, Joe Biden, maintains a low profile this Tuesday while the American population decides whether the vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, or the former Republican president Donald Trump (2017-2021) will succeed him in the White House.

His agenda for the day, according to the program released by the White House, includes only a summary of the day at 1:30 p.m. local time (18:30 GMT), and it is not expected that the presidential spokesperson, Karine Jean-Pierre, will offer a press conference.

Democrat Joe Biden resigned from his re-election race last July under pressure from criticism for his poor performance in a debate against Trump.

On his account on the social network X, he encouraged people to vote this Tuesday: “Let’s make history by electing Kamala Harris.”

Biden’s last public appearance dates back to Saturday in Scranton, his hometown, in the key state of Pennsylvania, where he held a meeting with unions.

In that same state, Harris closed her campaign this Monday with a rally in Philadelphia in which she was accompanied by artists such as Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.

The polls continue to show very narrow margins of difference between Trump, 78, and Harris, 60, for an electoral contest that will mark the course of the world’s leading power for the next four years.

Pennsylvania, with 19 electoral votes, North Carolina (16), Georgia (16), Michigan (15), Wisconsin (10) and Nevada (6), are key states to consolidate the victory towards the White House.
