The founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, turned into a philanthropist, said Tuesday that the United States, under the mandate of President Donald Trump, has carried out the greatest cuts in development aid, but “is not alone.”

“Of course, my country, the United States, has made the greatest cuts. But the United States is not alone,” Gates said in an appearance before the European Parliament Development Commission, in Brussels, where tomorrow he will participate in the Summit of the Gavi Vaccines Alliance.

The founder of the Gates Foundation said that “the short term is bleak”, after “completely unexpected” United States cuts and that they have contributed to public aid “has decreased to more than 30,000 million” of dollars ”.

Gates said that “unfortunately, due to the financing challenges and debt challenges, with a world that have many priorities, we now face a global health crisis.”

Gates said that infant mortality has been reduced by half

The billionaire – which pointed out that 90% of children who are born in poverty will do so in Africa here at the end of the century – said that Europe “has always been the most generous region in the world”, which has made a “huge difference, particularly in world health.”

“A cause with which rich countries and rich individuals should participate,” said Gates, who has committed to donate most of his fortune, valued at 200,000 million dollars.
