The Institutional Stock Exchange (BIVA) has spoken with Banamex to launch its Initial Public Offering in the stock market, according to the group’s general director, María Ariza.

“Yes, we have sat down (to talk to them). I think it is a company that we would all aspire to, because it is a Mexican company that has a very important history in our country and it would be something wonderful to see it in the markets,” he commented in a meeting with the media.

The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) is also in talks with the financial group that recently separated from the American Citi.

“I wish it were BIVA, but seeing it in the markets is something positive,” he added.

Last week Jorge Alegría, director of the BMV, commented that Banamex could operate in the markets of Mexico and the United States.

“That is something that neither we nor anyone else can control. We are all in the understanding and I think we all know that the intention is for the sale of Banamex to be done through a public offer. It has also been commented that it is dual, that it is in Mexico and the United States,” Alegría assured the media.

María Ariza commented that BIVA will close the year in a “positive” way and that by 2025 it estimates to continue growing, although not at the same level as this year.

“It was a record year for us, an atypical year, since last year was definitely a year that was very limited. We do not see a similar percentage of growth for next year. I wish we had 86% growth again,” he said.

Meanwhile, he mentioned that BIVA is in talks with companies to attract them to the stock market, in different schemes and programs.

He added that the institution has sufficient liquidity to operate and that it seeks to offer liquidity to companies.
