Bloodborne PS5 Remake Leak Has Gamers Losing Their Minds

A new report has just leaked the details about a once-planned Bloodborne remake, but it’s bad news for those anticipating a Bloodborne comeback. FromSoftware’s iconic Gothic horror game has been stuck without a proper PS5 upgrade or port for years, and by the sound of it, one opportunity to fix the situation has officially been shut down.

As reported by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, former Sony subsidiary Bluepoint Games pitched a Bloodborne remake in 2025. While “the numbers made sense,” FromSoft apparently felt differently. Last week, Sony announced the closure of Bluepoint, putting a definitive end to any lingering possibility of a Bluepoint Bloodborne remake.

A Bloodborne PS5 Remake? We Were So Close

And Yet So Far

Bluepoint previously handled the PS5 remake of FromSoft’s Demon’s Souls, which released to market success and general acclaim. Nonetheless, the remake also received criticism for changes to the art design of Demon’s Souls, which critics argued watered down the original game’s striking atmosphere.

Based on Schreier’s report, there’s a chance that FromSoft president Hidetaka Miyazaki may be one of those critics. Schreier cites a Kinda Funny Games interview where former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida suggested Miyazaki “didn’t want anyone else to touch” a Bloodborne remake. On the bright side, this suggests the possibility that Miyazaki himself could eventually helm a remake if he has the time, which would be the best case scenario from any angle.

Bloodborne Fans Aren’t Happy

Another Blow To Fans’ Hopes

Unsurprisingly, some Bloodborne fans haven’t reacted well to the news of a lost remake possibility. A tweet from Shinobi602 sharing the Bloomberg piece has collected plenty of responses, most of which are upset about one thing or another. Doog argues that a Bloodborne remake “could’ve literally saved Bluepoint from closure,” and AtticMichael goes as far as to suggest that “the real villains were FromSoft” all along.

Others, however, are coming to FromSoft’s defense, like escapedieu, who shares a graphic critical of the changes to Demon’s Souls. Oliver Darko takes the time to focus on other Bluepoint pitches mentioned in the Bloomberg report, pointing to both a God of War live-service project following Atreus in Hades and another Shadow of the Colossus remake as weak ideas.

No matter where you fall in the debate, it’s sad to see another studio closure during a turbulent time for the game industry. A Bloodborne remake might have been Bluepoint’s ticket to longevity, but the door has now been firmly shut on that possibility, and both Sony and FromSoft may have played a role in closing it.
