Apple stopped a planned review of its Mixed Vision Pro reality helmet to redirect resources towards smart glasses that would compete with the finish lines Platforms, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The iPhone manufacturer had been preparing a cheaper and more light variant of its helmet, known as the N100 code name, for its launch in 2027, according to Bloomberg. However, the company informed the personnel internally last week that they are reassigning employees of that project to accelerate the work at the glasses.
The Vision Pro of $ 3,499, launched in February 2024 with large fanfare, has had difficulty maintaining its impulse due to the low offer of main content and competition of cheaper devices such as Quest goal.
Apple is working on at least two types of smart glasses, according to the report. The first, called N50, will be paired with an iPhone and will not have its own screen. Apple aims to present this model as soon as next year, before its launch in 2027.
The second version, with screen, is planned by 2028, but Apple now seeks to accelerate the development of this product that could challenge the Ray-Ban Display goal, according to the report.

In September, the Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, presented the first smart glasses ready for the company’s consumer, with a price of 800 dollars, which include a built -in screen and a new bracelet controller, in the Meta Connect event. Meta also presented a new pair of Oakley brand glasses called Vanguard, aimed at athletes.
Apple glasses will depend largely on voice interaction and artificial intelligence, according to the report.
The company refused to comment on the report when it was contacted by Reuters.
In its annual product launch event last month, Apple presented an improved iPhones line, along with a thinner iPhone Air.
However, the event was scarce of evidence of how Apple – a lagging in the AI race – plans to close the gap with companies like Google, which presented the capabilities of its GEMINI AI model on its last flagship phones.
