Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is in talks with Google to secure additional computing power worth tens of billions of dollars, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The deal, which has not yet been finalized, would see Alphabet, Google’s parent company, providing cloud computing services to Anthropic, according to the report.
Alphabet shares rose 2.3% in after-market trading.
Google declined to comment, while Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Anthropic, which counts Google and Amazon.com as its main investors, is the creator of the Claude chatbot and competes with OpenAI’s ChatGPT for dominance in the field of artificial intelligence.
The company projects to more than double and even triple its annualized revenue rate next year, driven by rapid adoption of its enterprise products, according to an exclusive Reuters report published last week.
The company is on track to reach its internal target of $9 billion in annual revenue rate by the end of 2025, an annual revenue estimate extrapolated from the current pace of sales.
