BMV reaches historical maximum on a negative day for global markets • Markets • Forbes Mexico

The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) advanced 0.24% on Wednesday to chain four sessions with positive closure, while a new historical maximum was pointed out after its index rose to 58,735.86 units, in contrast to a day that reported negative results globally.

The previous record was 58,711.87 units of February 7, 2024.

“In the capital market, losses were recorded in most of the main indexes. In Europe there were setbacks, while in the United States, the markets showed losses, Dow Jones fell 0.58%, Nasdaq Composite fell 0.51%and the S&P 500 lost 0.56%,” the director of economic and financial analysis of the Base Bank, Gabriela Siller, told EFE.

In Mexico, Siller said, the price and quotation index (CPI), the main indicator of the BMV, “recorded a 0.24% gain, accumulates a weekly advance of 0.56% and recorded new historical closure with 58,735.86 units.”

The expert pointed out that the stations that registered the highest profits in the day were: Megacable with +5.25%, Pacific Airport Group with +2.7%, ALFA with +1.82%, Alpek with +1.75%and Orbia with +1.72%”.

The director of Economic Analysis of the Actinver Financial Group, Enrique Covarrubias, explained that with the movement on Wednesday the Mexican index located the performance of May in 4.4%, while the 2025 yield reached 18.6%.

The negotiated volume in the market reached 275.5 million titles for an amount of 24,772 million pesos (about 1,276 million dollars).

Of the 546 signatures that quoted on the day, 346 ended their rising prices, 178 had losses and 22 closed without change.

The titles with the highest upward variation were from the Frisco Minera (Mfrisco A-1), with 7.99%; of the south medical hospitals firm (Medical B), with 5.51%, and the Telecommunications Company Megacable Holdings (Mega CPO), with 5.25%.

In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the Southeast Airport Group (ASUR B), with -6.57%; of the automotive insurer Qualitas (Q), with -2.89%, and of the Constructora Vinte Integral Housing (Vinte), with the -2.5%
