Boeing and General Electric have identified a possible durability issue related to a seal in the engine that powers Boeing’s 777X aircraft, Bloomberg News reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The issue was first revealed by Boeing during its earnings call last week. According to CEO Robert Ortberg in that call, it would not affect the manufacturer’s delivery plans for 2027.
The finding could require the seal to be redesigned and adapted during future maintenance checks, the report added.
