A federal judge ordered Tuesday that the Boeing company faced a trial on June 23 for allegedly defrauding the United States air regulator before the two serious accidents that occurred with its 737 Max Max aircraft of 2018 and 2019, in which 346 people died.

The decision of the Reed O’Connor District Judge, of Texas, was sudden and takes place after this rejected an agreement reached between Boeing and the Department of Justice by which the aircraft manufacturer declared himself guilty of defrauding the regulator, thus avoiding going to trial.

O’Connor had set on April 11 as a deadline for both parties to propose modifications in their agreement.

The trial will take place in the city of Fort Worth, in Texas, according to the order issued by the judge.

Boeing, the world’s largest aerospace manufacturer, agreed to declare himself guilty of defrauding the regulator, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), before the two accidents recorded in 2018 and 2019 in Indonesia and Ethiopia for design failures in its 737 Max model, which caused the death of 346 people.

According to the agreement rejected in December by O’Connor, the company acknowledged having cheated the FAA in the certification process of its 737 Max aircraft and accepted to pay a fine of 243.6 million dollars, as well as invest 455 million in three years to improve its compliance and security programs.

Boeing faces from the 737 Max accidents, which forced to paralyze what was their star plane to submit it to investigations, a great crisis accentuated in 2020 with the Pandemia of the COVID-19, which affected the demand for trips worldwide.

When it seemed that the company began to raise their heads, at the beginning of 2024 a 737 Max 9 lost a door as soon as Portland had to return to the ground, after which part of those models were immobilized and the government opened several federal investigations.
