Mexico City, (EFE) .- After five weeks of the double homicide against two of its closest collaborators, the head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, reiterated on Tuesday that there will be no impunity in the case and said that “soon results will be given.”
On May 20, Ximena Guzmán, 42, and José Muñoz, 52, officials close to Brugada, were shot in the central Avenida Tlalpan, in the Mayor’s Office Benito Juárez.
A day later, capital authorities assured that at least four people would have participated in the murder of both officials, the largest profile of recent years in the Mexican capital, and affirmed that the attack had “an important degree of planning.”
“We reiterate that they are (carrying out) all research, that results will soon be given and that there will be no impunity as in any other issue,” Brugada said Tuesday at a press conference on cultural projects.

The capital president remarked that despite that attack, one of the most significant advances that the capital in security has had is the decrease in homicides, in addition to mentioning that the arrests have been increasing in parallel.
He recalled that two weeks ago his government reported May security rates and said that this was the month with less homicides in the city since 2016.
“We consider that the security issue is down, what is the crime that allows us to analyze if we are going well or badly? They are homicides,” he said.
After the passing of the weeks, the authorities have not wanted to talk about the possible advances of the investigation, they have not established the motive of the crime – used in broad daylight in one of the most traveled avenues in the capital – and have not informed about the arrest of some person related to the case.

These crimes reflect the wave of insecurity in the country and in the city in which criminal groups linked to drug trafficking cartels have a presence, although the government ensures that homicides have fallen 24.9% in the first seven months of the Presidency of Sheinbaum.
