The municipal traffic police and judges are the most corrupt authorities in Mexico, according to the perception of the businesses consulted by Inegi.

69.9% of establishments consider their municipality’s traffic police to be corrupt and 62.3% consider judges to be corrupt, according to the National Company Victimization Survey (ENVE) 2024, published this Tuesday.

In the first case there was a statistically significant change compared to the 71.7% in 2022, while in the second, the percentage was very similar to the 62.4% of two years ago.

At the opposite extreme is the Navy, since only 18.5% of businesses consider that this institution is corrupt, followed by the Army, with 22.7%.

Of the economic units that identified the authorities, 87.6% considered the performance of the Navy very or somewhat effective, and 85.5% in the case of the Army, while in the cases of the municipal traffic police the figure was 44.7% and for judges 60%.
