Actress Halle Berry, winner of an Oscar, was surprised by the update of the Cannes Festival’s clothing code and had to change the outfit at the last moment, as journalists told Tuesday.
According to the standards, it is not allowed to undress on the red carpet, or carry “bulky attire, in particular those of long tail”, that hinder the passage to other guests and make access to the rooms difficult.
The organizers said they could deny access to the red carpet to those who do not respect the rules.

“I had an incredible Gupta dress to wear tonight, and I can’t wear it because the tail is too big,” said Berry, that this year he is a member of the festival jury, at a press conference.
“I had to change your mind. But the part of the nude I think is also a good rule,” added the American star, winner of an Oscar for the 2001 film “Monster’s Ball”
In recent years, the guests and famous of the red carpet have exceeded the limits of the festival’s clothing code with gigantic queues, transparent dresses and attire that expose their nipples.
Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, caused a stir on the Grammy’s red carpet in February, when Censori took off a huge coat to show a transparent dress with nothing below.
In addition, the code now explicitly allows the use of elegant shoes without heel on the red carpet, a measure well received by the president of the jury, Juliette Binoche.

“As for heels, I think it’s a very good idea, from experience,” French film star said Tuesday.
