Canada intends to recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations in September, said Prime Minister Mark Carney on Wednesday.

Minutes later, Israel rejected the Canadian statement.
“The position of position of the Canadian government at this time is a reward for Hamas and harms efforts to achieve a high fire in Gaza and a framework for the release of hostages,” said the Israeli Foreign Ministry in a statement in a statement.
