Toronto (EFE) .- Canadian prime minister, Mark Carney, described on Wednesday the tariffs that President Donald Trump imposed on the automobile sector as a “direct attack” against the country.

Carney added that Canada will respond unified and that although the taxes “will damage” the Canadian economy will consider non -tariff measures against the United States.

Europe will seek negotiated solutions

The European Commission will evaluate Trump’s decision and continue to seek “negotiated solutions” while protecting her “economic interests,” said the chief of the executive arm of the European Union, Ursula von der Leyen.

“We will evaluate this announcement, along with other measures that the United States plans to implement in the next few days,” said Von der Leyen in a statement in which Trump’s decision “deeply” lamented.

However, the EU will continue to seek “negotiated solutions, at the same time protecting their economic interests,” added German politics.
