Carney declared that “from this night, tariffs on the automobile sector will enter into force and EU has indicated that there will be additional taxes in strategic sectors,” which will impact “directly millions of Canadians.”
The Canadian Prime Minister, on the way to meet with his cabinet and analyze Trump’s tariffs, added: “We are going to fight these tariffs with countermeasures. We will protect our workers and we will build the strongest economy of the G7”.
Trump announced that he will apply a 10% base tariff to almost all of the world, a figure that increases in the case of several dozens of countries. For example, the European Union (EU) will be subject to tariffs of 20% and China of 34%.
