If you’re in the market for a top-notch travel credit card, now is the right time to take a good hard look at the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card. It’s currently offering an increased welcome offer that includes a $250 credit to use for Capital One Travel bookings in your first year.

That’s on top of the standard 75,000 bonus miles you’ll earn after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening. You can use Capital One miles to offset travel purchases at one cent per point, which makes this limited-time deal worth at least $1,000 in travel.

Maximizing the Capital One Venture Rewards Card’s new welcome bonus

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card typically offers a welcome bonus of 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening. By itself, that is already one of the most valuable welcome offers. With the new limited-time deal, you’ll get $250 in travel credits to use in the first year for Capital One Travel bookings.

You can redeem Capital One miles for one cent each toward Capital One Travel bookings. This allows you to easily combine the $250 travel credit and your bonus miles to pay for $1,000 in travel. You can book all sorts of travel through Capital One, including flights, hotels, rental cars and vacation rentals.

You can also transfer Capital One miles to a long list of partner airline and hotel loyalty programs. This includes Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles, Emirates Skywards, Flying Blue (KLM/Air France), Singapore KrisFlyer, Avianca LifeMiles and many more. By taking advantage of the best deals offered by these partners, you can greatly expand what you do with your miles.

For example, if you want to book a one-way Star Alliance business class flight from the U.S. to Europe, you could book directly through Capital One Travel and use the Venture Rewards welcome bonus to cover $1,000 of the cost. Depending on the route and airline, a one-way business-class flight to Europe can easily cost $3,000 or more, which leaves you paying $2,000+ out of pocket.

Instead of booking through Capital One Travel, you could transfer 65,000 miles to Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles and book a one-way Star Alliance business-class flight. Even after accounting for the taxes and fees (typically $200+ for business class awards), you’re paying far less than you would by booking directly through Capital One.
