The head of government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, reported Friday that 16 police continue to be hospitalized after the aggressions of a group of hooded men, who left a balance of a hundred agents injured during the commemorative demonstration of the 57th anniversary of the Student Massacre of Tlatelolco, occurred on October 2, 1968.

In a message on his X account, Brugada explained that 94 agents of the capital police were transferred to different hospitals for their specialized attention after the attacks that occurred in the mobilization of Thursday, of which 78 were discharged during the night.

In addition, he indicated that 16 police remain under observation, three of them in delicate condition.

The head of government recognized “the courage of the police in Mexico City who resisted provocations without falling into confrontations”, and said that “unlike 1968”, in the city of Mexico, the police “does not repress”, but “builds peace, protects citizens and has contributed to the reduction of insecurity.”

Brugada also expressed his solidarity to the injured and announced “a special recognition and the immediate delivery of a compensation bonus to this great peace institution.”

The clash between the black block and police in the capital

Yesterday afternoon, hundreds of autonompered “anarchists”, embozados, headed violent actions, including attacks on the police in the Zocalo, to overshadow the commemorative rally that began in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco with the plate of the capital Zócalo.

In the center of the city, the protest was divided into two groups: the protesters who wanted to protest in a peaceful way and the so -called black block or “anarchists”, who threw stones, firecrackers, molotov bombs and paint buckets to the police of Mexico City.

The hooded men, who faced the authorities for about ninety minutes, used homemade flamethrowers, which caused external damage to the uniforms of police officers surrounding department stores, as well as jewelry stores, to avoid looting and painted to the buildings of the historic center of the capital.

The police responded to the aggressions with chemist from extinguishers, although many were stripped of their shields and helmets by the anarchists, who also tried to burn them and attack them with stones and hammers.

Dozens of departmental stores were affected by looting, pints or the total dismantling of the facilities.

The clash between the hooded men and the police is considered one of the most violent in recent years, which is part of the anniversary of the Tlatelolco student massacre of October 2, 1968, where more than 300 students and another missing hundreds were killed, according to civil organizations, although the authorities only reported 37 deaths.
