JPMorgan’s executive president Jamie Dimon said Tuesday that the independence of the Federal Reserve is “absolutely critical.”
“The president said he will not try to dismiss Jay Powell,” Dimon told reporters at a telephone conference. “The independence of the Fed is absolutely critical, and not only for the current president of the Fed, whom he respects, but for the next president of the Fed.”

“Playing with Fed often can have adverse consequences, absolutely opposite to what could be expected,” he said.
The comments occur at a time when the president of the United States, Donald Trump, has intensified attacks against the president of the FED, Jerome Powell.
