The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) intends to close the year with the installation of free internet in 3,180 IMSS Bienestar clinics in almost 1,200 municipalities of 24 entities.

The general director of the company, Emilia Calleja Alor, assured that it will benefit not only the medical and administrative staff, but also the patients and nearby communities, according to a CFE statement.

During an agreement signing, the general director of IMSS Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, stressed that connectivity is a new health determinant that drives equity in access to medical care.

He added that the agreement seeks to strengthen the National Telemedicine Program, which in its first months aims to provide 25,000 medical services remotely and in real time.

“It’s not just connection, it’s access to knowledge, remote diagnosis, telemedicine and clinical support. Thus, a mother in the mountains or an older adult on the coast will have the same access to a specialized consultation as someone in the capital,” said Svarch Pérez.

In turn, the Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich, considered that the initiative represents a decisive advance towards innovation with a social sense.

“Remote care is already an essential part of the health system. It is a sign of the commitment to making public health a service of excellence,” he stated.
