After the triumph of Argentina 3-0 against Venezuela in the last official match of Lionel Messi in his country, the national rock idol, Charly García, was photographed with the captain of the ‘Albiceleste’ and, when he said goodbye, he said: “God bless you.”

Garcia was one of the many stars that attended the Monumental Stadium of Buenos Aires on Thursday, the court where the River Plate club plays its meetings, to see Messi play their last official match at home, corresponding to the South American Qualifiers of the 2026 World Cup, against Venezuela.

After enjoying a box from the show, which resulted in 3-0 for Argentina with a double of ‘La Pulga’, the musician starred a special moment with the captain and other players, such as Rodrigo de Paul.

The meeting was immortalized in a photograph that Garcia shared on his social networks, accompanied by a message: “Thank you Leo Messi.”

Such was Garcia’s emotion that waited for the footballer at the exit of the stadium to greet him for the last time and said: “Chau, God bless you.”

Messi, who left the stadium driving a vehicle, with his partner Antonela Roccuzzo in the companion’s seat, did not hesitate to lower the window to take the musician’s hand and fire him with an emotional smile.

“Being able to end this way is what I always dreamed of. Being able to celebrate with my people,” Messi had pointed out after the overwhelming victory against the ‘Vinotinto’ for the penultimate date of the World Cup qualifiers.

The 38 -year -old footballer highlighted the love he received from the fans, and mentioned that, despite having been questioned for many years, he remains “with all the good” and with the achievements obtained.

García, author of historical songs such as ‘Demoling Hotels’, ‘I pray for you’ and ‘They continue to hit us down’, he has dozens of studio albums behind them, including fundamental pieces of Latin American rock as ‘modern clicks’ (1983) and ‘Say no More’ (1996).

Last month, the Argentine musician was recognized with a title Honoris Causa from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), an institution that stressed that “Charly García was a key piece of the Argentine, Latin American and Hispanic Rock Movement.”
