For the first time in a while, new Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card customers have a chance at earning a six-figure welcome bonus. Starting April 2, 2025, here is Chase’s offer: Earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 in the first 3 months from account opening.
That’s a 40,000-point hike over the card’s previous offer, although the spending threshold needed to earn it is now $1,000 higher.

Initially, the 100,000-point offer was available only to those who applied for the card at physical Chase bank branches, but it has now expanded to online applications.
Like a blue moon, such a generous offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card doesn’t come around that often. In June 2021, the bonus jumped to 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards® points if you spent $4,000 in three months. More recently, in October 2024, a two-part welcome bonus made it possible to earn more than $1,000 in value. It combined a one-time $300 credit toward travel booked through Chase with 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in three months.
If you redeem the new bonus for travel through Chase, it’ll be worth $1,250. You could also opt to transfer those points to any of Chase’s various travel partners.

-
3 points per $1 on online grocery purchases (not including Target, Walmart and wholesale clubs) and select streaming services.
-
2 points per $1 on other travel purchases.
-
1 point per $1 on all other purchases.
Plus, you’ll get $50 in annual statement credits for hotel bookings made through Chase. And each anniversary year, you’ll get a point bonus worth 10% of your spending from the previous year. The card’s annual fee is still $95.
