(EFE) .- The Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AI) OpenAi announced Monday that it will continue to be controlled by a non-profit entity despite the fact that it will continue with its restructuring to partially become a company for commercial purposes, a plan that Elon Musk’s technological magnate had firmly opposed in court.

“OpenAI was founded as a non -profit organization and is currently supervised and controlled by this organization. In the future, it will continue to be supervised and controlled by said organization,” said President OpenAI today, Bret Taylor, in post of the corporate blog that is accompanied by a letter from the CEO of CEO, Sam Altman.

In December 2024, Openai proposed a restructuring plan to become a collective benefit and interest society (CBP), a type of lucrative entity that at the same time pursues a social mission.

The plan, very criticized by former employees, Musk, opponent of Altman and co -founder of the organization, and other figures of the technological sector, passed because the new society directed all Openai operations, which hopes to enter the astronomical amount of 125,000 million dollars in 2029, according to The Information.

However, Taylor explains that they preferred to back down and the non -profit organization “will control and will also be an important CBP shareholder, which will give you better resources to support diverse benefits.”

“Our mission remains the same, and the CBP will have the same mission,” adds Taylor, who ensures that the decision has been adopted after maintaining a “constructive dialogue” with “civil society leaders” and the general prosecutors of the states of California, where he has its headquarters Openai, and Delaware, where the non -profit entity is established.

“We hope to advance the details of this plan (to transform the commercial subsidiary into CBP) in repeated conversations with them, Microsoft (which has participations in the aforementioned commercial subsidiary) and our new commissioners for non -profit organizations,” Altman writes below in a letter addressed to employees.

“We believe that this is the best way to follow: the general AI must allow all humanity to benefit each other. We are aware that some people have very different opinions,” adds the text of the CEO.

It also admits that the CBP model “has become the standard for other generative artificial intelligence reference laboratories such as Anthropic, X.AI, Google or the European Mistral.

Musk co -founded Openai in 2015 with Altman as a non -profit organization and, after the tycoon born in South Africa abandoned it in 2019, he created a commercial subsidiary that has allowed him to collect investments from Microsoft and other partners.

Musk, engaged in court with Altman, came to offer with a group of investors 97.4 billion dollars to take control of OpenAI.
