EFE.- China prohibited the export of dual-use civil and military products to 28 US defense contracting companies to “safeguard national security and interests,” the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement this Thursday.
Companies included on the list include General Dynamics, Boeing Defense, Space & Security, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Missiles & Defense.
China will prohibit the export of civil and military dual-use items to these companies starting Thursday, according to this Ministry.
The department in a statement noted that China takes the measure to “comply with international obligations such as nonproliferation” and because these entities “endanger China’s security and national interests.”
“The Chinese Government will continue to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of all types of business entities but will promote the development of compliant trade,” the text adds.
In December, China already announced that it will restrict exports to the United States of gallium, germanium, antimony and graphite, key metals for the manufacture of semiconductors or batteries, among others, in their dual civil and military use.
Those measures became effective after Washington announced new technological restrictions against China to curb its ability to develop advanced microchips, something that Beijing denounces as “an act of economic coercion.”
According to China, in recent years, the United States has “politicized the use of concepts such as national security to restrict the export of products to China,” in addition to “placing Chinese companies on the sanctions list in order to suppress them.”
