Chavismo recalled on Monday that on October 1 Christmas begins in Venezuela, an advance that, as in previous years, said President Nicolás Maduro, in a context marked by the military deployment of the US in waters near the South American nation, and by the response of Caracas to which he considers a “threat” against him.

“On Wednesday 1 (October) Christmas starts. For the bitter ones there will be no Christmas, according to them, but for us, for the entire country,” said the general secretary of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv), Diosdado Cabello, in reference to the opposition majority sector.

In the weekly press conference of the party, broadcast by the Venezuelan state television channel (VTV), the Minister of Interior said that the country is “at peace” and “waiting for the arrival of Christmas” on Wednesday, when a month also begins in which, he said, a “religious festival” will be held for the canonization of the lay doctor José Gregorio Hernández and the religious Carmen Rendiles, on October 19.

In addition, Cabello, who had a cap with the phrase “to doubt is betrayal,” said that today the South American nation, its people, its armed force and police organizations are “solidly amalgamated in a single force” and said that Chavism “will not stop” despite the “threats.”

After Maduro, on September 8, announced the advance of Christmas, as he has done in other years since he came to power in 2013, several areas of the capital began to be decorated, including the Paseo Los Próceres -a monument with sources, squares and statues of independence leaders -, surrounding Fort Tiuna, one of the most important military complexes in the country.

Maduro explained that it is a “formula” that has turned out “very well for the economy, for culture, for joy and happiness.”

Last year, also in September, the Head of State anticipated the Christmas party “in tribute” and “in thanks” to Venezuelans after the presidential presidentials of July 28, in which the National Electoral Council (CNE), composed of officials related to Chavismo, proclaimed his victory, despite the complaints of fraud of the majority opposition.

This year the celebration will begin after Maduro signed an external shock decree that would be “immediately activated” in case of “any type of aggression” against Venezuela, as reported on Monday the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.

The opponent and deputy elected to Parliament Henrique Capriles criticized today the advance of the Christmas holidays when, he said, the salary is made “salt and water” and education “is in crisis.”
